Visit Luxor: what to see and do in 2-3 days

by The Lady | posted in: Africa, Egypt | 4

Tombs and temples in Luxor are, in my opinion, the most beautiful things to visit in Egypt. Not even the world-famous pyramids of Giza can compare with the beauty of these monuments in the south of the country and the wonder they arouse when visiting them.

Tourism in Masindi: rural Uganda

During the winter of 2019, I arrived in Masindi. I had been in Uganda for only a couple of days and I had already crashed a wedding party, ordered a hundred school uniform to donate and eaten fried grasshoppers from a street vendor.

🇬🇧 The Church of the Holy Trinity in Hrastovlje is 🇬🇧 The Church of the Holy Trinity in Hrastovlje is completely covered in frescoes, every wall, column, arch and ceiling. It is an extraordinary work, recently restored and nicknamed “the comic strip of the Bible”. The frescoes date back to the 15th century and the most famous is the Danse Macabre (or Dance of Death), a procession of figures from all social classes presenting themselves before Death. My favourite is the rock man trying to bribe the skeleton that walks with him 💀 The small church, moreover, is surrounded by additional medieval defensive walls, which the local inhabitants used as protection against Turkish invasions.
An interesting detail concerns the name of the village, Hrastovlje. One theory suggests that the settlement already existed when the valley formed part of a pilgrimage route to Jerusalem. This route was called the “Way of Christ” or “Cristovia”. From this came “Hrastovia”, and eventually Hrastovlje.

🇬🇧 the Spanish town of Cuenca is a little jewel in 🇬🇧 the Spanish town of Cuenca is a little jewel in central Spain. The old medieval city center is perched on the top of the hill, with narrow cobbled streets and steep stairs. The highlights are the "hanging houses", known since the XVI century.
